Yippee-chai-yay, you filthy animal! Chai Hard is a creamy, cozy, chai-inspired cocktail made with vodka, Kahlúa, crème de cacao, orange curaçao, strong tea, milk, and a dash of bitters. This chai cocktail tastes like spiced chai, ready in seconds, and gets a few laughs when you serve it!
When getting tea, make sure to get black tea since it has the strongest taste. There are many options for tea that are labeled as "chai" or "spiced". Those are best for most spiced flavor.
To make strong tea, simply steep a tea bag in 1 cup of tea for much longer than usual. I usually do about 10-15 minutes. Store remaining tea in a glass jar in the fridge and use when need to make this cocktail.
Making Chai Cocktail:
Add some ice to the cocktail shaker and pour in all the ingredients.
Close tight and shave vigorously for 10-15 seconds.
Pour into the glass with ice (or you can use the dirty ice, aka ice from the cocktail shaker.)
Garnish and enjoy!
Notes
Make it dairy free: oat milk works very well in this cocktail so use that instead of milk or cream.Make ahead: you can easily make just the strong tea ahead of time or make the whole cocktail ahead of time. Mix as many batches as you'd like together in a glass jar with a lid. Do not add ice! Store in the refrigerator for 1-2 days.
